Presidents Report 2009 Sam Riachi 2009 will be yet another exciting year for our club where we will have to capitalise on the solid work achieved in the 2008 season. On all fronts, 2008 was a challenge but we have come through the season with some encouraging results on and off the field . However, the tough times are not over. Globally we are faving a financial crisis. This crisis will have an effect on how we do things locally. We need to be well planned, organised and ready for the challenges ahead. I am extremely optimistic that with solid team work and an enthusiastic approach, we will make 2009 a year to remember, The community support of our great club is crucial, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our major and minor sponsors for their financial contributions and support throughout the 2008 season, and look forward to their continued support in 2009. To my fellow committee members and volunteers, I once again seek your support and guidance for the year ahead and look forward to working closely with you through 2009. Bingo, canteen, family nights are all initiatives that help us raise much needed funds to make this club viable and successful. In 2009, we need to continue our focus on driving these initiatives / activities and seek ways of increasing numbers through the doors. Numbers will create numbers, so support the club that supports you. On the playing field, we rebuilt, challenged and shared some of the spoils in 2008. I see 2009 as the year where we can really consolidate and continue the improvement. I formally would like to welcome Sergio Marra to the senior coach's role and Alex Cosenza to the thirds coach's role. Both Coaches will be assisted by Ivan Garic. On the women's front I welcome Roy Kavanagh to the senior coach's position and Alan Clark as reserves Coach. Once again, our expectations are high and our support is strong. I look forward to some outstanding results and achievements. Finally, I would like to stress the importance of supporting our grass roots. A big welcome to Diane Walker our Junior Vice President thanks for volunteering for this position and A big thankyou to Francine Mort who has done a brilliant job for the past two years. Our junior club has been the backbone of our club and has produced some exciting talent over the years. We need to continue to help our juniors grow and develop. I encourage senior players, members and volunteers to lend a hand and provide the support where needed.. 2009 will be a challenge, together we shall stand and together we shall share the pain, heartache, joy and elevation that this season will bring. Welcome to all past and current members, future members, family and friends to the 2009 soccer season. Sam Riachi President |
